Ask three agencies in Abu Dhabi what branding costs and you will get three answers that do not resemble each other. One quotes a few hundred dirhams. One quotes twelve thousand. One asks for a discovery call before naming any number at all.
None of them are lying. They are describing different work under the same word.
This guide breaks down what branding actually costs in the UAE market, what sits inside each price bracket, and what makes the number move. No sales pitch, just what a business owner needs to know before signing anything.
Why the range is so wide
Branding has become a catch-all term. It covers a logo bought from a marketplace in an afternoon, and it covers a six month strategic engagement with research, naming, and a full identity system. Both get called branding. Both appear in search results side by side.
The gap in price reflects a gap in what you receive. A logo is a mark. A brand is the system that makes the mark mean something and keeps it consistent everywhere your business shows up. Understanding which one you are buying is most of the work.
What you are actually paying for
A proper brand identity project usually includes:
A primary logo with variations for different formats and backgrounds
A colour system with exact values for screen and print
Typography choices for headings and body text
Rules for how everything is used, written down
Source files you actually own and can hand to anyone
Some projects add brand strategy on top. That is the positioning work: who the business is for, what it stands for, how it should sound. Strategy is where most of the long term value sits and where most businesses underspend.
The four brackets
The figures below are typical ranges across the UAE market. They are not Kayora's rates, and any studio's pricing will sit differently depending on scope.
Marketplace and template work, roughly AED 150 to 1,500. You get a logo file, usually a modified template, sometimes within a day. There is no strategy, no system, and no guarantee the mark is original. For a business testing an idea before committing, this is understandable. For a business that plans to grow, it usually gets replaced within a year.
Freelance designers, roughly AED 1,000 to 5,000. You get direct contact with the person doing the work and often good visual craft. What you may not get is strategic input, capacity when you need revisions quickly, or documentation that lets a future designer pick up where the last one stopped.
Boutique studios, roughly AED 5,000 to 25,000. This is where most growing businesses in Abu Dhabi land. You get senior attention, a structured process, a full identity system, and guidelines that hold up as the business expands. Timelines usually run three to six weeks for identity work.
Established agencies, AED 25,000 and upward. Deep strategy, research, sometimes naming and multilingual work. Timelines stretch to several months. This makes sense for larger organizations, multi-market launches, or businesses in crowded categories where distinctiveness is genuinely hard to achieve.
What moves the number
Two businesses can ask for the same thing and receive very different quotes. Usually because of these:
How many places the brand has to work. Digital only is a smaller job than digital plus print plus signage plus vehicle graphics plus presentation templates. Every additional surface adds design and testing.
Whether strategy is included. Positioning, audience definition, and messaging take time before any visual work starts. Some quotes include it. Many do not, and that is a common reason two prices look so far apart.
How revisions are handled. A structured process with defined feedback rounds prices differently from open-ended revisions. Ask which one you are getting, because unlimited changes sound generous and often are not.
What files you receive. Flattened exports are cheaper than full editable source files with documentation. If you only get flattened files, your next designer starts from nothing.
Whether Arabic is needed. Bilingual identity work in the UAE means type selection and layout that work in both scripts. That is real additional effort, not a small add-on.
Speed. Compressed timelines around a launch date usually carry a premium.
What a realistic timeline looks like
For a boutique studio in Abu Dhabi, a full brand identity typically runs three to six weeks from kickoff to final files. Add strategy and it extends. Add naming and trademark checking and it extends further.
Most delays are not the designer's. They come from slow feedback and unclear decision making on the client side. If three people need to approve every round, build that into your expectations before you start.
Before you commit, ask these
What exactly is delivered, listed item by item
How many revision rounds are included and what happens after those
Do I receive editable source files and full ownership
Is brand strategy part of this or is it visual work only
What is the timeline, and what causes it to slip
Can I see a project you took from strategy through to launch
Any studio worth hiring will answer all six without hesitating.
On going cheap
The cheapest option is genuinely fine in one situation: you are validating an idea and expect to replace everything once it works.
Outside that, low-cost branding tends to cost more over time. A template logo you outgrow becomes a rebrand. A brand with no guidelines becomes inconsistent across every channel within months. A designer who owns your source files becomes a problem the moment you need a change and they are unreachable.
Branding is not the most expensive thing a growing business buys, but it is one of the few that shapes everything built afterwards. If you are planning a website, a rebrand, or a serious push into a competitive category, the branding decision comes first. We have written separately about [why branding builds trust before you speak], [what actually makes a logo work], and [why design systems matter before a rebrand].
Where Kayora sits
We are a design studio in Abu Dhabi working with startups, small businesses, and growing brands. Every project is quoted around what it actually needs rather than pushed into a fixed package, and both founders work directly on the work.
If you are trying to work out what your business needs and what it should cost, tell us what you are building and we will give you a straight answer.
